Aida has been a mental health clinician and group therapist for over 30 years in a variety of settings including Whitby Psychiatric Hospital, The Addiction Research Foundation, Toronto East General Hospital, and COTA community mental health. Currently, she has a psychotherapy private practice offering both individual and group therapies. Aida is a founding member and co-director of the Toronto Institute of Group Studies (www.tigs.co), providing training in group facilitation and group therapy as well as group supervision to mental health professionals. She graduated from the University of Toronto, Department of Rehabilitation Medicine, in Occupational Therapy in 1985 and completed a two year diploma in long term group psychotherapy from the Toronto Training Program of the Canadian Group Psychotherapy Association in 1992. She is a long time member of the College of Occupational Therapists, the Canadian Group Psychotherapy Association(CGPA) and the American Group Psychotherapy Association (AGPA). She served in the Toronto Section CGPA Training program both as a training module coordinator and lecturer. She has led and co-lead a variety of group therapy training workshops at annual CGPA conferences and facilitated Experiential Training Groups. She has served on the CGPA board of directors since 2014 and chairs the CGPA National Training Committee.
